Is the new 60-day visa exemption limited to 2 entries per year by air, and how does it reset?

It seems as a digital nomad you could apply for the new DTV and it will likely provided residency in Thailand for 5 years with just 4 visa nuns to Cambodia or similar for you and your wife over that time. It may be the best way to spend the money once you get the DTV and arrive in Thailand. The details are almost clear and simpler, a few months may make a retirement visa obsolete.... Things are happening and more soon is to come. The biggest change in Thailand's visas is about to happen.

Previously after being in country for over 180 days some immigration entry point would pull you aside for questioning and possibly denied. Now they seem to be going down the path of income tax liability for those who stay in the kingdom for over 180 days (183 I think is the exact number). Those with Thai bank accounts may be accessed based on what they transfer in from abroad. Time will tell if taxation becomes the means of managing the time people come and stay in the country rather than by immigration border officers.

When you really want advice, just find the correct visa for the purpose of your stay.

Thailand has a lot of different visa, so why try to use visa exemption when you want to stay over 60 days?

I have heard rumors the land border had no limits, I have no clue if there is any truth to it.

I would hire an agent to take me to a border crossing, but I am less risk adverse then most.

Not limits by air and land borders are up in the air this exemption is to new to know yet

Visa exempt is now and has always been "unlimited" entries by air. The 2 times per year is for land border entries, and that might have been removed with the new 60 day visa exempt.

When the policy is in place, it is calendar year, so it resets on January 1st.

Note that "unlimited" does not mean you can do it as many times as you want. It means that there is no limit in the law, but the immigration officers have the discretion over every entry. If your activity and amount of time spent in Thailand does not appear to match typical tourist behavior, you will run into issues eventually.
