TLDR : Answer Summary
The original poster asked about the possibility of obtaining a 2-month visa upon arrival in Thailand. Commenters clarified that there is no such visa; arriving without a visa may grant a 30-day visa exempt stamp for American passport holders. Those needing a longer stay are advised to apply for a tourist visa before arrival, or they can extend their 30-day entry by 30 days at an immigration office.
As Americans you can get a visa exempt entry for 30 days. That’s not a visa, just a free entry stamp for 30 days. You can apply for a 30 day extension at a local immigration office from that.
Alternatively you can apply for a single entry tourist visa from a U.S. consulate prior to arrival which would give you 60 days on arrival. Cheaper to do that option.
Kinda yes if you are from the country list for 30 days on arrival, you get Visa exempt for 30 days then extends it at an immigration office to 30 more. Extension can be fast and easy for depending where for 1900thb, do not do in bangkok or phuket or pattaya. It is a pain in the a$$ in busy immigrations.
Another question ...I was told if I wanted a 60 day visa, I must show my bank account for several months. Do they actually ask for this? I have two bank accounts. I have a Bangkok Bank account that's currently locked. My ATM card was stolen in Vietnam before the pandemic, and the criminal tried to use the card, and hack into my online account. So Bangkok Bank locked my account and won't help me unlock the account until I go back to Thailand and show my passport. My other American account doesn't have much money in it, because I keep almost all my money in the stock market.
Arrival stamps are not visas, they are visa exempt stamps.
Some countries are 15 days only some are 30 etc.
If you want actual 60 days it is called a single entry tourist visa that you apply for from outside of Thailand from a Thai Embassy or Consulate before coming.
No. Further, whether you need a visa, a visa on arrival, or are visa exempt depends on your nationality. Take some time to review posts in this group and use the search field to search for some parameters that apply to yourself.
It’s possible to get 30 days on arrival with the option to get an extra 30 days after visiting an immigration office. It’ll depend which passport you have 👍
