I stayed in Thailand for 30 days from December 1 to January 1 I was hoping to come back in may for a month which is 4 months out of Thailand? Is this likely to be rejected I am reading only 2 exempt entries per year (Canada passport). In the past I would come for a month 2-3 times a year without issue and maybe a weekend here or there but heard they are detaining and deporting tourists who stay for 3-4 weeks now at a time. Can anyone give more explanation

TLDR : Answer Summary
The original post raises concerns about returning to Thailand on a visa exemption after a 30-day stay, particularly in light of reports about stricter enforcement of entry rules for frequent travelers. The discussion reveals confusion over the alleged two-entry limit per year for visa-exempt tourists. Various comments clarify that while there is no official cap, repeated entries within a short timeframe are scrutinized more than before. It's suggested that those looking to stay longer or chronically enter Thailand might consider applying for a visa rather than relying solely on visa exemption.
AI is not the best guide. What they are targeting is repeated back to back visa exempt entries which people have been abusing to live inside Thailand instead of getting the appropriate visa
Gytis Dubauskas This isn't about people returning to their home of domicile. It's about scrutiny on repeat border crossings and more finalized guidelines, not new rules.
There is no defined limit to the number of visa exempt entries you can have but they're certainly more strict than they used to be. Really what they look at is your history inside Thailand rather than number of entries so if you have a fairly comprehensive history it would be sensible to get a visa
really couldn’t be bothered to get some complicated long sta visa as I am just a tourist a Cpl times a year if there’s a chance of being turned away rather just go somewhere else I guess
