Can I use a locked fund to meet the 500k Thai visa requirement?

Wierd question regarding the 500k. I have a “fund” or whatever the proper English name is. It consists of company bonuses that is placed in a fund. They are however locked for some years, and cannot be withdrawn yet. I have talked with people from my home country successfully apply with just a stock account and this is similar, it is in my name, with proper documentation, but not “accessible” for some years more. Yes it’s a wierd question and I will head to the embassy next week to ask about it, but should I be able to clear the 500k with this account?

This is mostly if any people struggling with the cash situation have had a similar question and can say anything about it, otherwise I’ll get an answer next week.

TLDR : Answer Summary
The post asks whether a locked fund, consisting of company bonuses and not accessible for several years, can qualify to meet the 500k baht requirement for a Thai visa. The author plans to consult the embassy for clarification but seeks advice from others who might have faced similar situations. One response cautions that having inaccessible funds may not satisfy the requirement, suggesting that proper documentation showing funds are genuinely tied up is crucial.

You can try, but having inaccessible money is like have no money at all, If they don't know the money is tied up and your documents don't show that it is tied up then likely it will pass scrutiny. But, it's your call rolling the dice. I'd be careful which embassy you choose and not one known to demand extensive funds documentation. The real question is, does it contain 500K baht or more?

yeah, I’ll look into how the account info looks like. I have no other option than my home embassy atm. It has about 550k so should be fine, but it’s untaxed so about 400k that’s actually withdrawable…
