Hi there,

This is a question for people who have applied for DTV in the US. Have any of you shown the cash needed ($15k USD) in a brokerage account? Not as stocks and investments. But the cash amount.

I have a high yielding brokerage account, so want to put the money there, just not sure if that will be alright.

If anyone has experience showing cash in their brokerage account, please let me know.

Thanks!

When applying for a soft power DTV would a statement from a brokerage account (JP Morgan) work or does it need to be a savings account or checking account?

Hi, a few weeks ago I booked an appointment in Laos. Now, I have read many comments about the new rule requiring 500,000 THB banked for 6 months. I keep my money in my brokerage account and withdraw money as needed for living in Thailand. Recently, I withdrew 500,000 THB to my Thai bank account just to show a statement for DTV. In my 6-month statement, I withdrew and spent 2.4 million THB, or 400,000 THB per month. It is less than 500,000 THB per month. But I can show a statement from my brokerage account with an amount much greater than 500,000 THB. Also, I have a job contract, salary payment documents, and a portfolio. Will they accept it? Should I choose another Thai embassy? I booked all my flights, hotels, etc., and do not want to lose them just because of this new formal rule.
