Will my 1-year extension application based on marriage be denied during the 'under consideration' phase?

Hi guys,

Last week I submitted my application for 1 year extension based on marriage. Everything went smoothly I paid the fee and was told to return on the 25th. I’m guessing this is the “under consideration” phase?

My question is, my non 0 visa expires on April 2nd, if for whatever reason my application is denied I’ll only have a week left on my visa so would I have to start the whole process again? Starting with the 90 non o visa from outside Thailand?

Do these visa even get denied at this stage?

TLDR : Answer Summary
The user submitted their application for a 1-year extension of stay based on marriage and is concerned about the possibility of their application being denied before their non-O visa expires. The comments suggest that during the 'under consideration' phase, issues are typically resolved, and applicants rarely face denial if their documents are in order. Most respondents express confidence that approval of the extension is highly likely, encouraging the user to remain optimistic.

There is no logic why anything happens here 😔

I personally have NEVER EVER seen someone apply for a year extension based on marriage to a thai, pay the 1900baht get the under consideration stamp and then have them NOT get the year extension <- not even ONE single time

Dial back the paranoia just a notch 😛 , wait it out, show up at the immigration office on that date and you'll be fine

Most of the time, during the Under Consideration period is a house visit.

All your documents are in order as your application is accepted, it can go wrong if during the house visit the conclusion is that you are living alone, there is no wife and the marriage is not de jure and de facto.

If you are living together with your wife, than it will all go smoothly and no problems.

I think the house visit requirement is office specific. I submitted my application at CW and didn’t get a house visit before the UC period ended and others report the same. However I see that people who apply at other offices outside of Bangkok do sometimes get visited at home. The OP didn’t mention where he applied.

No, as in every country, police officers are allowed to make a decision. This decision can be made based on amount of applications, usage of time, distance to people to visit and many other factors.

That YOU did not get visited does not mean that it does not happen in your area, or that that part of the law is not valid in your area.

Fair enough I wasn’t suggesting that they won’t get a visit just relaying my experience and that of others who have applied at CW. Of course the IO at any office has the right to visit if they want to.

After being here for fourteen years, I have learned not all participants in using Thai Immigration enjoy, or don’t enjoy, the same USER experience.

I am pretty sure you have had the same realization.

We apply for the extension, we see papers shuffled, then comes, hopefully, the UNDER CONSIDERATION stamp of approval. 😃

Hopefully no further declarations or necessities to vex us in our goal.

Mine has never been denied.

Have a beer be happy

They wouldn't have accepted your application if there were any issues. Simply by them accepting it, you're all but ensured to receive your extension when you return.

You should be fine... Just show up on the date instructed and you will get the One year extension of stay stamp in your passport.
