How does the Non O Marriage visa work for a foreign woman married to a Thai woman, and are there financial requirements?

Hi everyone! I'm a woman married to a Thai woman, and I'm trying to find out how this Non O Marriage visa works.

Is there anyone here in the same situation? Or maybe a male-male marriage? How did it go? Did everything go smoothly, and did you get the visa in the end?

And one more thing I'd love to know: did immigration ask you to show money in the bank or proof of income? Since the funds are only required for a man married to a thai woman? I don't hope for it haha, but just in case.

To put it simply, in "same sex marriage" with a Thai partner the foreigner is essentially treated as the husband when dealing with Thai authorities and your marriage being anyhow relevant. So yes you will have to meet those requirements.

You must have bt400,000+ in your bank account to get the type O 90 day visa, then once in Thailand that bt400,000+ needs to be in your Thai bank account, in your name only, for at least two months before you can apply for your one year extension. If you were not married in Thailand then your marriage license needs to be translated into Thai, and certified by the MFA, ministry of foreign affairs, as being an accurate translation, then registered at the local Amphur/district office.

I am married to a Thai so we are used to applying for the extension. Let your Thai partner fill out the forms and let them  deal with immigration I just stand there and smile. It makes things much easier as Thais rather deal with Thais and makes things may I say pleasant.

Yes. If applying for a Non-Immigrant O based on being married to a Thai citizen, financial evidence is generally still required. Same-sex marriage recognition does not remove the financial requirement.

You should not have any issues obtaining a non-O visa based on marriage to a Thai.

The ONLY circumstance which allows bypassing the financial requirement is a foreign woman married to a Thai man. All other types require proof of finances, including a foreign woman married to a Thai woman.
