Will immigration officers check my employment and savings upon re-entry to Thailand on a DTV after quitting my job?

So I need to do my first visa run pretty soon, but I also quit my job not too long ago and looking for a new one. And my savings has fallen a bit under the 500k requirement since entering Thailand 5 months ago.

My question: do officers check to see that you are still current with your job + savings upon re-entry?

Is it worth trying to enter again under my DTV and see what happens? Or should I take another route being that my situation has changed?

TLDR : Answer Summary
When re-entering Thailand on a DTV visa, officers typically do not check your employment status or bank balance. Most comments confirm that re-entry is straightforward and that these checks are conducted primarily at the application stage rather than at each border crossing. However, there is a slight possibility officers may inquire, especially if there are discrepancies or if applying for an extension, but such situations are rare.

This is honestly why the soft power route tends to be the safer option. As long as you keep renewing your course and actually attending, you’re generally fine.

The workcation path can be a bit of a grey area unless you own your own business or are in a very stable role. I wouldn’t be surprised if, at some point, immigration starts more actively verifying ongoing employment for workcation holders—just like they may eventually verify course attendance for soft power.

Not knocking your situation at all, and I don’t think you’ll have any issue re-entering, just some food for thought for people who dismiss the soft power route.

Anonymous post, opinions still valid.

Someone in this forum claims they and others got asked to show 20K baht in Chiang Mai. Purely anecdotal though.

In practice, re-entry on a valid DTV is usually straightforward. Immigration does not routinely re-check your bank balance or employment on each entry — those are assessed at the application stage, not every border crossing.

Not at all, only if you make extension in the immigration office.

Not with a boarder run, only if you stay and apply for an extension

No mandatory checks on arrival regarding job and bank balance. You should be ok. You could use an agent for "special" entry if you really concerned.

There is currently not any of these checks for when you return and re-enter on the DTV, they only request the DTAC and Visa. Its unlikely you get asked any other questions but of course there COULD always be the chance they ask and they would be entitled to do so to ensure you meet the criteria. Just that the likelihood is very slim. Do bare in mind though as you have stated you no longer meet the criteria for the DTV so I am assuming it is "technically" void and no longer a valid. They just wouldnt know that unless you make it known? 👀🤷🏽‍♀️
