Has anyone been asked to show your 500k baht on your bank balance at immigration in the airport on your first time entering with an accepted DTV visa? Or are you okay to move the money out once you get accepted?

TLDR : Answer Summary
The requirement to show proof of 500,000 THB upon entering Thailand with a DTV visa is a debated topic among expats. Some users report being asked for proof of funds at immigration, while others state it is not a requirement after visa approval. It appears that recent experiences suggest occasional checks may occur, particularly as the DTV visa becomes more popular. Generally, while some maintain that no immediate checks are performed upon entry, they recommend being prepared to show funds, as there have been instances of scrutiny.

u don't need to show 500k balance at immigration, coz dtv visa look like long term tourist visa. Everytime u enter to thailand u must have 20k THB in hand and u can easily pass immigration. I entered over 10 times and nothing problem

No.

Are you saying you haven’t got the funds? If they think it’s not yours, or you’re moving it from other sources just to show proof, you could very well be flagged.

You should only apply and come to Thailand on this visa if you legitimately have the funds, not borrowed.

No entering Bangkok

And the fear mongering continues, give it a rest 🖕🖕

I was asked to show proof of funds on my first time coming back from getting my DTV approved. Was in immigration “jail” for two hours for their investigation before letting me through. They seem to be scrutinizing your arrival and any abuse of the visa system.

BKK or Chiang Mai or where?

@Adrià *******
yeah, I was just curious. I just went through and all is good.

@Greg *******
I had a similar experience, but was only detained for 15 minutes while I completed the form and showed my proof of funds.
Daniel ********
I was asked to show proof of the funds in Chiang Mai. I pulled up my accounts on my phone.

For extensions in Thailand, it is. For re-entry, it isn't so far but may change.
Greg ********
Not heard of any checks on entry. For extension in country you need to show it again and that it has been in account 30 days.
Stuart *********
At this point there are no requirements to enter using the DTV. In future that may or may not change.
Lewis ********
Yes it’s not a requirement. Once the visa has been issued there are no more checks.

@Lewis *******
Not true, they check rn to some people randomly and probably there will be more and more as DTV becomes popular.

@Lewis *******
not true at all. First timer comment for sure

sorry, that’s not true.

@Daniel *******
Can you send me a link to where it states this please from an official source?
Daniel ********
@Lewis *******
how about personal experience from last week when I entered Chiang Mai.

What you see online is not matching what is happening on the ground.
Lewis ********
@Daniel *******
ok so it happened to you but it’s not official? Just random spot checks
Daniel ********
@Lewis *******
, I am not sure if it has happened to others.

I shared a recent interaction, and I don't know if it was random, spot checks, or targeted.

Nonetheless, the initial statement was that there went any more checks after the initial approval.

And, my recent experience demonstrates that this statement is untrue.

So, I strongly recommend when entering on the DTV be prepared to show the required funds in your account.

@Daniel *******
ok I’ll be mindful I have been in and out multiple times in the last 12 months and wasn’t asked. Fingers crossed 🤞🏼

@Lewis *******
clearly you are new in TH lol they can check and require you to have the 500k at any time when you re enter, and you should have them weather in a broker account or a normal account, be ready or go in immigration jail !
Siggi *******
@Jordan ******
no they can't check anything regarding bank accounts. For this they would need a court order by a judge and all the liers here don't have a clue. Suddenly after 40 years of different visas with money requirement like 800.000 retirement, 400.000 marige visa, 500.000 MTV suddenly the dtv visa holders tell they have to show money 😀 and there is no legal right for any immigration officer in the whole world to ask for bank accounts. And regarding the visa there is no requirement to hold this money in the account. So useless, senseless and illegal. So stop spreading misinformation

@Siggi ******
lmao this is THAÏ LAND and like any other country in the world immigration officers have every rights to check everything in your phone including bank accounts as well as your d*ck pics

Hi Jordan. I have been living in Thailand 9 years on various different visas over the years. Do you have any links where I can read that the DTV visa requires you to keep 500k in your bank at all times?
Jordan *******
@Lewis *******
during the 6 month you are here you can use your 500k thb but you need make sure you have 500k thb again if you re-enter. There is nothing written yet but if you ve been living here for that long you know it’s coming. Even when you apply for extension you are supposed to have 500k fresh thb. Now the trick is to get out of the country and just come back by plane. But there have been people reporting that they needed to show 500k thb. This is just common sense. Of course you need 500k thb ready for every 6 months you will spend in TH. If you not have them, change visa

it’s coming… I smell bull 💩

@Jordan ******
stop making things up. That’s not an official position and you know it
Jordan *******
Lmao brokies are gonna exit TH after 6 month to avoid asking for extension then come back TH without 15k then be sent in jail immigration until show 15k, don’t be a brokie, just prepare 15k for your 6 months
