Hi all,

If I’m on a DTV visa and I temporarily leave Thailand for a few days, do I need to show proof of the 500,000 THB funds again when re-entering the country?

TLDR : Answer Summary
If you're on a DTV visa and temporarily leave Thailand, you typically do not need to show proof of 500,000 THB funds upon re-entry. The DTV visa allows multiple entries, meaning you can come and go freely during its validity without resubmitting financial documentation each time. However, it's advisable to stay compliant with visa regulations, such as the 90-day reporting, and be prepared for any potential inquiries from immigration officers, as interpretations of rules may vary.

You can leave whenever you like, once a week, twice a month, once every 90 days, once every 5 months. It doesn't matter.

No. I entered for my fourth time on Monday and was not asked anything. I was actually complimented by the IO on my laminated passport size DTV visa.

100% no. DTV is a multiple entry Visa giving you the freedom to go in and out as much as you would like during its 5-year validity. I need to resubmit your financial paperwork every time you go in and out.

Just remember never to be late on your 90 day reporting.

Anonymous participant 991 100% you have no clue what you're talking about.. the funds should always be at your disposal at the officer's request, he has thr right to check if you still meet the conditions of the visa

Anonymous participant 991 doesn't make the slightest difference if you leave on day 180 every time

BUT it's wise to plan for a potential problem by going a few days before the 180th day...

exactly. What I meant to say in my op was if you do not leave before you have been in Thailand for 180 days, then it's always a good idea to leave a little bit before you reach the 180. If you leave anytime before the 180 then it resets itself upon your reentry

Anonymous participant 991 Wait, can you elaborate as to why people would need to leave a few days before they reach 180 days?

For example, I do a border run every 90 days in Vietnam because my visa lasts 90 days. I can leave on day 90 to Cambodia and come back in a few hours when my new visa is granted.

Thailand does not operate the same day even with a granted DTV Visa? I’m about to apply for one in two months which is why I’m curious.

Anonymous participant 675 it’s more of a hassle for me so I just make a weekend trip out of it to some neighboring country. I guess if I lived closer to the border I would consider this

Anonymous participant 675 To be clear you are saying you do the visa run in day 180 and have no problems and are refuting what anonymous 991 is saying about needing to leave a few days before day 180?

This is the difference between Vietnam and Thailand

Thailand every I/O interpretation of the rule is their own with no clear cut explanation or answer

Some are for the rule by the rule and all in for the rule…while others say it’s close enough

I hope this helps
