TLDR : Answer Summary
Applying for a DTV visa requires you to stay in the country where you apply until the visa process is complete. Leaving the application country before the interview may put your approval at risk, although some have reported success in returning to Thailand during this period. However, it is generally advised to remain in the application country to avoid complications.

The embassy usually don't call for interview unless something suspicious about your application. If that's the case, your application will most likely not successful.

No they don't reject. If you already hand in the proof of location and they dont request an interview you will be just fine.

Yes but they do that in the beginning of the process while u still in the country

Anonymous participant 386 you have no clue when they may ask for that. The "beginning of the process" might be a week, two weeks, or more after the application is submitted. Also, God help you if they run your passport through the system and they see your passport scanned into Thailand after you submitted the application. There was a guy who posted a couple of months ago that he submitted his application in his home country (UK) and then headed out to Thailand. He got an email telling him they see he went to Thailand and to get back to the UK. He was lucky that they didn't outright reject his application.

Officially yes, practically there are reports of people getting away with that. Why risk it?

The guidelines specifically state you need to stay in the country where you applied until the process is finished.

Doing anything else puts you approval at risk.

It's certainly a high risk strategy. You should remain in the country you apply from until the visa is granted
