TLDR : Answer Summary
The consensus among commenters is that you should not enter Thailand on a tourist visa after applying for a DTV visa from outside the country. Many warn that doing so could jeopardize your DTV application, as you may be required for an interview or to provide additional documentation while waiting for approval. It's advised to stay in the country where you applied for the DTV visa until it is either issued or denied.
Yes you can, but you need to be aware of the risk of being called to an interview. In countries like China they check your entry-exit record. My wife is Chinese, she did it and had to return to China to get the visa approved (even though no interview was necessary). She just had to be in China to have it approved
Just wait for a while. You have to get DTV visa before re-entry Thailand 🇹🇭, if you want to stay with DTV Visa for 5 years. After that you can get multi-entry to Thailand.
If you enter to Thailand again with your tourist Visa, you’ll lost all money and process which you apply for DTV.
Some found out you are not meant to do this. Back on Thailand and invited to interview in country where they applied. Now the chances are low you get caught but why take the risk for a few days?
You should remain in the country that you applied in until the process completes. You can be called in for interview or even asked to supply copies of every page in your passport to prove you have not left the country
Presumably, an applicant would wait until they're asked for more documentation before leaving the country, so what you say isn't usually a concern. Only a small handful of consulates perform interviews.
