Iโm looking to get a DTV visa. I talked to a lady and she will send me to Cambodia with my documents and one day later I return to Thailand and enter on tourist visa. She says 14 days later I will get the stamp in my passport. Does that sound right?
Most people wait outside Thailand and then enter with the visa. Right?
She showed me she do this all the time no problem.
Can I trust this?

TLDR : Answer Summary
The proposed method of obtaining a DTV visa by leaving Thailand and re-entering on a tourist visa is risky and not guaranteed to be successful. Comments suggest that embassy rules require applicants to stay in the jurisdiction during the application process, and leaving could lead to rejection without a refund. Additionally, many are advising against applying for a DTV visa due to high rejection rates.
They always got rejections in one place and approvals with the same documents in another country. What are you basing your advice on? Hearsay? There are people getting DTV visas approved everyday
We are a law firm and visa agency. We are currently indefinitely suspending our DTV services due to a number of rejections. Last year, we had no problems, but since 2025, we have had several rejections.
There are law firms/agents who do not follow the correct protocol for DTV applications and applicants have had their DTVs revoked on arrival, cancelled etc. Embassies have clocked on to applications via agents.
DTV is for people earning money. I donโt really Iโm such a small YouTuber. I just have good money in the bank and that is not a reason for approval as I understand it
There is no minimum income requirement for the DTV - workcation option. The DTV Soft power option is via courses such as Muay Thai, cooking or medical treatment. You can be approved with low online income and substantial savings; Savings shows financial independence, so it is a plus. When i applied for my DTV, i had low online income at the time but got approved as i used savings to show i can live independently.
Embassy rules are clear. You must remain in the jurisdiction of the embassy during the entire application period. Leaving is grounds for your application to be rejected with no refund.
The embassies near Thailand are very strict about this and like to do random checks like asking you for a receipt showing you're still in the country or calling you in for an interview.
Others done similar to you and had their DTV cancelled or revoked and given a year ban from entering Thailand. The agent is doing business with you, she is not going to honestly tell you about the failures.
