Hi, I’ve entered thailand on a regular 30 day visa on arrival, which expires 8th October (AU passport). Looking at the recent news, is it right that if I wait until 1st October to do my extension, I will be granted a 45 day, not 30 day extension?

Okay, ONE TIME, listen up people,

The ENTRY time on a visa exempt or visa waiver entry stamp will go from 30 to 45 days starting October 1st and running until March 31st,

The EXTENSION time for people on a 45 day visa exempt entry will be 30 <- (that's THIRTY) days just like it always has been.

The rule change they made is the only pertaining to the ENTRY period.

You have a visa exempt stamp in your passport I assume. From what I've read only your first stamp is 45 days from October 1 the extension is still 30 days to get 45 days visa exemption you'd had to leave and come back in

if you enter Visa exempt you will be stamped in for 45 days plus one 30 day extension of stay available for1l 1900 Thai baht at local Thai immigration office. Total stay = 75 days

You can get a Thai tourist visa before you fly to Thailand... gets you 60 days on arrival plus 30 days extension of stay = 90 Days
