Dear group, I am in Thailand with a 6 months multiple entry visa that is going to expire end of January. Planning to fly out mid January for few days in order to get a stamp, before the expire date, valid for other 60days stay (new stamp valid till mid March). I will then need to leave for professional reasons. So the length of my stay in Thailand at that point would be of 7 months as I came mid August.

I would like though to return, after 2 weeks out of the country, to attend a workshop/retreat and I was wondering if any of you can tell me if I will be able to re-enter with the 30 days tourist visa at arrival or I will face difficulties having stayed already here for 7 months with my multiple entry visa? Thanks in advanced to all of you and best wishes for a new year full of sun and smiles! ๐Ÿ™๐Ÿป

TLDR : Answer Summary
The individual is inquiring about re-entering Thailand after a 7-month stay using a multiple entry visa. They plan to leave Thailand temporarily for a stamp to extend their stay, and they seek advice on whether they can return with a 30-day tourist entry or if their long stay will pose difficulties. Comments suggest possible strategies, including extending current visas and obtaining re-entry permits.

this is what I would do.

get the last 60 day entry then go to the immigration office and get a 30 day extension AND a re-entry permit. That would give you permission to be here until mid april and when you come back after the two weeks out of the country you would be stamped in until then.

You don't need to get the 30 day extension but I was trying to maximize the amount of time you'd get stamped back in for when you return to thailand after the two weeks out of the country.

It is not uncommon for people on a 6 month METV to get 9 months of stay in country out of it.

get the 30 day extension FIRST for 1900baht, then buy a single re-entry permit for 1000baht.

You'll most likely need copies of:

data page of your passport

the tourist visa

the most recent entry stamp

the 30 day extension stamp

the TM.6 departure card

And a filled out TM.8 application for re-entry permit form

Tod I do appreciate your feedback! Last question, Can I buy the single re-entry permit at the same office in Samui where I go for extension? Any idea how that will cost and if any specific documentation needed for that (like copy of the ticket with the return date etc.?). Cheers

@Ve***
, you should have no problem applying for a 30 day extension when you have 30 days left on that 60 day entry stamp.

they ADD the 30 day extension to your current expiration date so you don't lose any days going early.

I'd go apply for the extension and right after they stamp it into your passport buy a single re-entry permit.

Tod thanks a lot! My plan is to fly to Jordan for work beginning of March. How long in advance I can get the extension is Samui (my 60 days will expire 19th of March but I might need to request the extension first week of March before flying out). Would it be possible to request the extension 2 weeks earlier? And then return with a re-entry permit after 2 weeks and use my last 30 days? Cheers brother!

Hi
@Ve***
Bottini. There is no 30 day visa on arrival... you can get a 30day entry stamp :-)

It becomes a bit tricky if you been here 9 months in a row on Tourist visas but in my opinion your case sounds good to go.

Not sure if you want to re enter in the midst of a 60day period. If so get a re-entry stamp. And you can extend every 60 days of your Metv also with 30 days exemption at Samui for 1900b coming to a total of 9 months.

So what if you extend your 60 days instead of flying out? And fly out 30 days later for a new 60 days. And extend that one. And get a re- entry for your 2 weeks away? Let me know if you need some on the spot explanation dear :-)
