TLDR : Answer Summary
Recent updates indicate that the Thai consulate in Vientiane has implemented an online e-visa system that started on January 1st. The official processing timeframe noted on their website is up to 10 days. Applicants are required to visit the embassy in person to complete payment in cash, as credit card transactions are not supported for this e-visa process. As such, it is advisable for applicants to stay in Vientiane for at least 10 days to accommodate any potential delays.
I have was asking if anyone had done it, it's seems very drawn out as old way was 2 nights in Vientiane

difficult to say . . . In Vientiane they started the online e-visa system on January 1st, 30 days ago. The processing time as mentioned on their website is up to 10 days. And you will need to visit the embassy to pay cash, because the payment option by credit card is not available on their e-visa system
