I have a small misdemeanor on my record from 2018. It was obstructing justice. Will that prevent me from getting a retirement visa?

TLDR : Answer Summary
Having a misdemeanor, such as obstructing justice, typically should not prevent you from obtaining a retirement visa in Thailand. Many comments suggest that if you apply for the retirement visa within Thailand, no criminal record check is required, particularly for the NON-O visa. However, some users caution that it could be scrutinized if you apply from your home country, although opinions vary.

If you apply in Thailand they don't require a police report. I had a few charges so I applied here. Looks better than showing convictions

It’s possible it may come under scrutiny if you apply for the retirement visa in your home country . The same like with the necessity to have health insurance. But if you where to come to Thailand and apply for your visa here, then I seriously doubt anyone would care . I’m no expert by any means and just assuming my ASSUMPTION is correct . 😉
that's only if you apply for the non-OA visa in your home country. One of the requirements is a criminal background check. The non-O visa does not have such a requirement.
