TLDR : Answer Summary
Individuals with criminal convictions may still enter Thailand, especially if the offenses are old and related to driving. Most tourist or exempt visas do not require criminal record checks. However, specific visas like the retirement visa may ask for a record report. It's important to note that unless one is wanted for serious crimes, prior convictions are typically not a barrier for entry.

Update - convictions are not mine, they are my partners. I am coming over for surgery and he will be my support person. I don't want to get all the way there a d they turn him away and I'm left there on my own.

Probably not, well hopefully, if it isn't an issue I hope as they develop they dont allow convicted people in. But knowing Thailand, if money is coming in they don't care.
Yours is driving so I highly doubt they will deny you
