Was thinking of applying for the O-A in USA being over 50 . Seems like the way to go BUT has anyone or know of anyone that was denied because they had a misdemeanor on their police record not jailable offense ? And/or what would be my options otherwise ? The offense was 15 years ago DUI resulting in probation before judgement NOT expungable in my state Thank you

TLDR : Answer Summary
The user is considering applying for a long-stay O-A visa while being over 50 years old but is concerned about a misdemeanor (DUI) from 15 years ago affecting their application. Comments suggest that others with minor offenses have successfully obtained the O-A visa, and applying might be the best way to find out. An alternative option mentioned is to apply for a Non-Immigrant O visa which allows for a 90-day stay. It is also noted that the O-A visa must be obtained from a Thai consulate in the applicant's home country.

Good Luck, hope you get the visa you are seeking..

Is the Non-Immigrant O-A easy to get if you're not in your home country? Like maybe down in KL ?

Can't get one

you can ONLY get a year-long, multi-entry Non-Immigrant Type O-A visa from a thai consulate in the country your passport comes from..

You shouldn't have any problem applying for an O-A visa. I have seen people with minor things on their records get them without a problem

Unfortunately the only way you'll really know is to apply and see what happens.

Im just am concerned if getting denied I will be in the computer system for further visa applications as " denied " I even contacted an immigration lawyer in Bangkok and he suggested going for the O and extending with the requirements in country . I will see when Im back in the states and anything changes in the next few months Thanks again

But I will try to apply for the Non Immigrant O-A visa I take the changes that DUI 15 years ago is not a reason to deny the application.

My concern was applying for O-A and then being denied that stays in their computer profile if I went to apply for a different visa afterwards Thank you

Other option is to apply for the Single Entry Non Immigrant O visa, get 90 days of stay. Make sure you get as soon as possible the minimum of 800.000 Thb in a Thai bank account on your name and you can 60 days later apply for the 1 year Extension of Stay based on being over 50 years of age.
