Do I need a background check from the Royal Thai police for an education visa, and will a misdemeanor charge affect my application?

ORIGINAL POSTER
It looks like now I need a background check from the Royal Thai police to get an education visa from the consulate/embassy.

Has anyone had to do this? It looks like theyโ€™re just doing a background check on my history in Thailand. But Iโ€™m worried because I have a misdemeanor paraphernalia charge for having a small amount of Cannibis ๐Ÿ years ago in the United States.

Itโ€™s going to change my plans a lot if I canโ€™t return to Thailand on an education visa. I might decide to stay in Bali or Cambodia instead.

Thank you all for your help ๐Ÿ˜Š๐Ÿ™๐Ÿผ๐Ÿ’—
