Will my past drug arrest affect my entry into Thailand if I apply for a tourist visa?

Hypothetical situation... Apply for single entry 60 day tourist visa via evisa in USA.

If this visa were denied (55 yr old drug arrest that was pardoned but electronic records don't indicate the pardon) and I showed up for a 30 day via exempt, would I be denied entry?

TLDR : Answer Summary
In this hypothetical scenario, a 55-year-old individual considering applying for a single-entry 60-day tourist visa via eVisa from the USA worries that a past drug arrest, which has been pardoned, may impact their entry into Thailand. The consensus from community comments is that the Thai embassy does not generally conduct criminal history checks for tourist visa applications, and thus the arrest is unlikely to affect the visa or entry. The only concerns arise if seeking employment in Thailand, as the arrest may then become problematic.

probably ok then

the only reason you could get denied is if you try to apply for a teaching job (that drug arrest would matter) otherwise it won't affect getting a tourist visa

You should be ok getting the 60 day tourist visa or going 30 day visa exempt

Thank you, that's a relief... For what reason(s) would they deny a tourist visa?

travel history is the main concern.

they don't ask many questions as long as you provide the limited paperwork they require.

they would deny a visa for the same reasons your home country would deny you a passport. If you have a legal passport you can get a tourist visa.

I've never heard of anyone who met the requirements being denied.

They don't ask or check criminal record, for this visa

The Thai embassy isn't running a criminal history check on you for a tourist visa. Even for the visas that require one, you have to provide it to them.
