Hi everyone! Question, maybe someone had a similar case. Citizen of Ukraine. Applied for a DTV in Seoul. Own company in Korea, export of medical devices and aesthetic medicine products. Submitted all documents (bank statement +-100k USD, local ID, company registration certificate), they requested additional documents: tax payment for 2024 or 25 in Korea, VAT payment, entry-exit certificate, description of reason to acquire DTV). Submitted them the day before yesterday, it was on 'approval' for a day, and today the rejection came :*(
Summary so far
A Ukrainian citizen applied for Thailand's DTV visa from Seoul, supported by documents like a bank statement and company registration. They faced a rejection after submitting additional documents. Community comments suggest reasons include the visa's purpose being misunderstood, potential concerns about business intentions in Thailand, or insufficient clarity on remote work eligibility. The conversation highlights how applicants must clearly present their purpose and align it with visa regulations to improve approval chances.

Maybe: Seoul isn't the best place to apply for DTV (after researching the situation in different places, you'll understand what I mean) or they don't understand why you need DTV, since all your processes are related to Korea (analyze the applicant's profile through their eyes). It's easy to overcomplicate the DTV case, so it becomes unclear why you need this particular visa. And yes, this is all about business, not about a remote employee or someone who is passionate about Thai boxing/cooking.

thank you..i heard that its much easier to get DTV in SEA countries...and yes, i wanted to use visa just for comfortable travelling and staying for longer time, since my gf is thai, so we stay between Seoul and BKK. So my main points were to show my financial accounts able to nt work in Thai and use my expertise to research on marlet in Thailand and to mayne make some biz in the future, which i thought was ok rrason to obtain the visa((

Apply via soft power route. Better in Laos (if you can spend there ~3weeks), better as dependant via your wife (not necessary though).

Maybe they think you will try to open a business in Thailand (which is against the rules of DTV). Just a thought.

ExcellentKale7226 that's why you got rejected. Go for soft power.

ExcellentKale7226 that is actually against the rules of the DTV visa. You are not allowed to make income within Thailand

ExcellentKale7226 That's clearly not in line with the purpose of the DTV visa. And by stating you were interested in starting a business or selling products in Thailand, whether or not you intended to start the business after switching to a different visa, it will trigger suspicion by the application processor. Scouting a business location or market research could be done on other types of visas and does not require 5 years validity. If you have been following the group posts, many people applying with a 6-month course did not get the DTV visa but instead the embassy gave them a 6 month visa. So you have to look from their perspective wondering why you want to come for 5 years to do market research.

ExcellentKale7226 of course it is.

ExcellentKale7226 they thought you would use the DTV to do work in Thailand - while you stated you would only do market research, they didn’t believe that

ExcellentKale7226 what you want is a Non-B visa

ExcellentKale7226 NO DTV visas are for 1. remote workers working for companies based outside of Thailand (and with no work with any Thailand companies). 2. Soft power (muay thai or cooking schools).

my purpose was to find out about business environment and see if i will set up business afterwards, at least what they told me in the embassy that this suits the DTV visa, and no purpose of making income was mentioned

Was the bt500,000 equivalent in your personal bank account for at least three months, or in a business account? Also, did you submit a document saying you were allowed to work remotely in Thailand?

ExcellentKale7226 it sounds to me that you were rejected because you were looking to do business in Thailand, not remote working running your Korean business. The DTV doesn't allow working in Thailand, only working remotely. To me it sounded like your plans are to expand into Thailand, learning about all the rules to do it.

yes i guess you are right, yes my plans were to expand in the long run, but nt make business while being in Thai, since my source of income and company is located outside Thailand in different jurisdiction...however, i got your point! Thx
