What was the process and experience of applying for a DTV visa in Thailand from Ho Chi Minh City?

# DTV Approved - Workation. My experience in detail.

Applied from Ho Chi Minh City

Received approval on the 10th working day.

For context, I had previously been working at a registered Thai company but was let go. After finding a remote job, I stayed in Thailand on a tourist visa for 3 months while preparing to apply for the DTV.

## Applied: Sunday January 11th, 21:47

I made my application on Sunday night, right after arriving in HCMC, so that Monday would count as a full working day for processing. Not sure how much impact that had in the end, but it's what I did.

Documents provided:

1. Financial evidence: 3-month bank statement from a Thai savings account that had 500K+ THB for 3 months.

2. Employment contract/certificate: a copy of my contract from my remote job, as well as a signed letter from my boss affirming the details of the contract, with salary clearly indicated.

3. Document indicating current location: my entry stamp from arriving in Vietnam.

## Request for further documents: Thursday, January 15th, 15:25 (4th working day)

Documents provided:

1. Financial evidence: 6-month bank statements from both the savings account provided in the initial application, as well as my everyday-use bank account, with salary payments highlighted.

2. Document indicating current location: Photos of full passport book, including empty pages, with the date and time visible (calendar app on my laptop screen visible in every photo alongside the passport pages).

3. Other documents: Salary slips from the past 6 months and income tax documents from the past 2 years.

4. Other documents: Business registration document - I provided my current company's Articles of Incorporation - and a company profile (a PDF of my company's website did the trick here).

5. Other documents: Details about current work - CV, portfolio, job description, and some documents from my recent work that supported the job description.

## Status update from "Pending Document Check" to "Pending Approval": Thursday, January 22nd, 15:00 (9th working day)

Checking additional documents took a full week in this case. My theory is they kind of try to move things along towards the end of the week, since both the additional documents request and the status change happened on Thursdays and around the same time too.

## Approved: Friday, January 23rd, 12:20 (10th working day)

Thankfully, the "Pending Approval" stage took less than 24 hours. I've heard some stories of this being a bottleneck, but in my case, I assume that since my additional documents were deemed satisfactory, they didn't want to leave the case open over the weekend.

Hope this can be useful to anyone applying under similar conditions. It can definitely be a stressful experience, so if you're scrolling through this group trying to gain some sort of insight, I can definitely relate πŸ˜… best of luck!

Thank You for your helpful report πŸ‘

Congratulations πŸ‘πŸ‘πŸ‘

PRINT OUT THE EMAIL THAT HAS YOUR DTV VISA.

That's what you should do... print it out.

You may have to show PROOF of your DTV Visa to airline staff on check-in for your flight ✈️ to Thailand...even to the connecting airline staff. Or to the land border crossing entry Thai Immigration Officer.

Upon arrival into Thailand, show the DTV visa to the Thai Immigration Officer and look at the STAMP placed in your passport to be sure you are STAMPED in for 180 days.

good advice that everyone should follow. We don’t want to choke at the finish line πŸ˜‚

All was well and in order when I entered! This morning had the least busy Suvarnabhumi arrivals and passport check that I have seen in a very long time.

What is your remote work? Also, do you think they will close your thai bank account with your DTV visa now ?

Anonymous participant 314 I don’t see any reason the account would be closed. I’ve grown up in Thailand over a number of visas depending on my situation, the one I used for this case was made when I was a university student. And I really don’t think anyone with the power to do that would go that far. I just won’t be able to make a new one on this visa.

I work at a marketing agency.

thankfully, I was able to coordinate with people at my workplace to get all the documents for the additional request sorted and sent on the same day that the were requested. That definitely helped my timeline a lot.
