Why was my COE application rejected due to my flight's departure location?

Just rejected for COE because my flight according to RTE London is leaving from France. Actually it’s leaving from Sierra Leone which has no embassy which is why I applied at London because I’m a British citizen. They say I need to apply to the Paris embassy but who wants to bet when I do they reject it saying my flight is departing from Sierra Leone. Why does it matter where you apply you still need the same criteria?

TLDR : Answer Summary
An expat faced rejection for their Certificate of Entry (COE) application when they applied at the British embassy in London, citing their flight's departure from Sierra Leone. The embassy advised applying through the French embassy instead, causing frustration over perceived inconsistencies in the application requirements, especially regarding the departure location and its relevance.

now I don’t think my application to Dakar went through because I’d already applied to the French embassy. I’ll have to wait for it to be rejected then go fir Dakar again.

OK. So COE needs to 100% come from the RTE of country you travel from? I.e. lisbon as I'm dodging Covid in madeira?!

I can't comment to be honest as I don't know. I live in Berlin with UK passport and we have Embassy here. Was no issue to get visa...

The CEO looks like this. I've hidden some information and wiped out a barcode for security reasons but this is it...

is the COE just a printed document from a web portal? How long does it take to get processed. Sorry, only just begging to unpack this process!

I’ll let you know if I ever get approved. The annoying thing is that they approved it but because my flights changed my ASQ didn’t match up with the dates so had to send a new confirmation. Then they decided to reject it, saying wrong embassy, why didn’t they say it at the start?

I think so but as I don’t have an embassy here which is why I’ve been waiting fir Visa Exemption I now have no idea
