My friend applied for his marriage visa on the website in America. Took 6 weeks to get it. He got it the day before his flight. I got my marriage visa the same way took 4 weeks. I'm reading all about the crackdowns and difficulties people are having. Any thoughts on why this is getting more complicated in recent years?

TLDR : Answer Summary
The discussion revolves around the recent concerns regarding the complexity of applying for marriage visas to Thailand. Despite sentiments that the application process has become simpler with online submissions, some individuals express anxiety over reported crackdowns on visa legitimacy and increasing scams, suggesting that the perception of difficulty may stem from heightened scrutiny and previous issues faced by applicants.

should have called them difficulties. Difficulties staying, going, coming back. I've been coming for 20 years on a Non-O. Things were much simpler until about 7 or 8 years ago.

eVisa is the greatest invention since sliced bread. It eliminated mentally challenged people who used to clog Thai consulates and embassies all over the world with their stupidest questions, as they do now in FB posts.

More complicated? If anything it's got easier... Remember all the 'issue' posts you are seeing... All the 'smooth and easy ' ones your mostly not and these vastly out number the troubled ones... It's only when people have issues they tend to post...

Applying is easier but getting it seems more difficult. I was also referring to non visa issues, TM30, 20k cash, photos of people in the bedroom to prove relationships, etc

both tm30 and 20k cash have been years... And years. And I dare say that nobody has just been refused for just for 20k..its usually the excuse for an acculative of issues.. The recent woman is just such as an example..

What exactly are you claiming is getting more complicated?

Applying for a visa is easier than it's ever been. You used to have to mail your passport to the embassy. Now you just apply online in a few minutes and get your visa back in e-mail. That's incredibly simple.

I used to put the paper application in the mail on Monday and have a visa in hand by Friday. 20 years experience for me. I have seen the changes.

Exactly. Some embassies and counselates take longer to process it. NYC, but it is easier than it has ever been. Gone are the days of mailing passports for a sticker that took sometimes months to receive. Ive found using the DC embassy the fastest for approval and the NYC counselate the sslllooowwweesstttt.

A lot of them change their visa processing when it gets into high season, and prioritize based on the flight information provided. As the OP said, the vis came in the day before the flight. That's because that's how they do it when they're busy.

I believe so. I almost didn't get approved in time through NYC. I had to contact them multiple times and got it 2 days before I landed.
