If I am sponsoring my spouse and had well above the $$ needed in my account, plus showed a high monthly income, why did their dtv come back wanting them to have $ too? Spouse has no independent earnings beyond ssdi and not much in bank.

TLDR : Answer Summary
The respondent is seeking clarification on why their spouse's DTV visa application was returned requiring financial documentation from the spouse, despite the sponsor showing sufficient funds. Community comments suggest that certain embassies, like Manila, have specific financial requirements demanding a minimum amount per applicant. It's also noted that the spouse's name may need to appear on bank accounts or statements submitted, and a sponsorship letter confirming financial responsibility might be necessary.
Your bank account needs to have your spouse's name on it. I went to my bank and add spouse's name and did not have any issues. Have the bank print you a letter to show the bank amount, how long you had the bank and on the top, it will have you and your spouse's name on it.
Some embassies want sponsor to have 15k for each applicant including infants. Specifically Manila. So if there is 3 applicants need to have 45k on account.
Anonymous participant we applied via LA (USA). We used the same bank statement for both main applicant and spouse applicant - but both our names were on the account. If you have that, that should be fine. Side note, we did provide a few months worth of statements even though that wasn’t specified, as well as a marriage certificate as proof of why both our names were on the bank account together. Good luck!
