TLDR : Answer Summary
The Spousal DTV (Domestic Visa Type) application process involves several key steps and documentation. First, you'll need a marriage certificate translated into English. It's essential to apply with your spouse at a Thai consulate, where they can enter as a "trailing spouse." You must provide proof of your DTV visa and demonstrate financial capability, typically requiring a minimum balance of 500,000 baht. This amount can be in your spouse's name or yours with a sponsorship letter. Many consulates now require recent bank statements to confirm the balance. Overall, the approval rate for spousal applications can vary depending on the consulate's specific requirements.

- Copy of your dtv

- Marriage certificate (english)

- bank statements with 500k+ thb in her name OR

- bank statements with 500k thb in your name and sponsor letter saying you are financially responsible for her accommodation, food, needs etc in Thailand.

More and more embassies are asking for 6 months of bank statements, with the most recent being 500k+ thb. It's better to have the savings account in just her name, but I've had my dependants application approved with my account and sponsor letter

should it be done at the same embassy where the initial DTV has been approved?

with correct documents, you should be able to get your dependents the DTV Visa. ALL will have to travel with you to apply for the DTV visa. There are posts about getting the DTV visa for your family members on the forum. Read them and choose your Thai Embassy or Consulate to apply. Read the requirements for the DTV on the Thai Embassy or Consulate website.

i got mine approved in hcmc and then my dependants in Taipei. Taipei was a little funny, they asked why I didn't apply for the dependants in hcmc and they wanted to contact the hcmc embassy. Luckily (or not), hcmc didn't reply to them so Taipei just approved my applications after my interview when I told them I had to fly home the next day.

So, no I don't think you have to apply for the dependants at the same embassy as you since there is no official document saying so. However, it depends on the person who's looking at your file and how their day is going. Just make sure to apply outside of thailand as you need proof of current location (eg arrival stamp)

Being legally married is your first step. You might be able to "sponsor" her by showing the 500k baht in your account but that's going to be embassy specific

You would GO with your spouse to a thai consulate in a nearby country and apply for a DTV using this choice on the eVisa system

You upload your DTV as proof they can get one as a "trailing spouse"

Depending on the consulate they might need proof of funds OR you could upload a letter stating you will "sponsor" them for the funds and upload your banking info again.
