Why did my DTV visa application in Mumbai result in a Tourist TR visa instead?
I applied for a DTV visa at the Mumbai consulate, India and instead got a 'Tourist TR' visa!
Despite submitting all the documents and fulfilling the criteria with well above income and bank statement. I was basically 'rejected':(.
Think twice about applying from Mumbai. They are very stringent about it. They don't support soft power applications nor the freelance application.They are most prolly looking for people with traditional jobs with fixed regular income. Also, i assume i cannot get them to give me the correct DTV visa now?

no it was a workcation. Everything including my client's business registration was providedJohn **********
They most likely gave you a tourist visa as that was sufficient for what you applied with. Only a guess but 1 months worth of soft power activity doesn't deserve a 5 year visa

not really. I applied through the remote worker route. I prepared weeks on perfecting my application. Including itr, statements maintaining 500k for more than 3 months, client business licence. It wasn't even the soft power route. Yet rejectedJohn **********
Anonymous participant that's odd. Did you show a contract with the client along with permission from them to let you work remotely from Thailand, and if so did it also state you wouldn't work with any thai clients or entities?

the embassy said to email if i want to cancel it. But i can utilize the METV visa for 90-120 days and then cancel it, to reapply dtv from neighbouring country
