DTV application cancelled after 74 days from submission — looking for advice

Hello everyone. I’m Mongolian and applied for a DTV (Workcation) through the Thai Embassy in Beijing, following the requirements and application process.

Unfortunately, after 74 days of waiting, my application was cancelled. I’m quite frustrated and would really appreciate hearing from anyone who has had a similar experience — especially fellow Mongolians who applied through the Beijing Embassy.

Here’s my timeline:

* July 2 — Submitted my application

* July 25 — Status changed to “Pending Approval”

* Late August — Sent an email asking about the processing status, but received no response

* Early September — Tried calling the consulate numerous times, but couldn’t get through

* September 11 — Finally got through by phone. I was told that visa processing can take up to 90 days

* September 13 — My application was suddenly cancelled around 9 PM on Sunday

I’m especially frustrated because communication with the Beijing Embassy/Consulate has been extremely difficult, and the processing time was much longer than expected.

Has anyone here experienced something similar with the Beijing Embassy, particularly Mongolian applicants?

Should I reapply, or could there be an issue that would make another application pointless? If you’ve been through something similar, I’d really appreciate any advice or insight into what might have happened.

Thank you!

Seventy-four days then cancelled after "pending" is brutal, and embassy timelines are rarely transparent. Useful next moves: get a written reason if they will give one, confirm whether documents or an interview step triggered it, and whether a fresh file is cleaner than waiting on silence. A parallel channel often beats staring at a dead status. Frustrating, but treat it as process failure, not a forever verdict on eligibility.

Now you have to apply in your home country or where you have permanent residence

Mongolia doesn’t have a Thai embassy, they are assigned to the embassy in Beijing; so that was the correct embassy

Just an FYI. No Thai embassy in the world makes communication easy. They would prefer to never ever hear from anyone outside of their building.

Bro, has Genghis blood not flow through you. Get a bunch of riders together and raid the Beijing office. That's what a true Mongol would do.

Did they actually use the word canceled in the rejection letter?

A canceled application usually means something wrong with the biodata. The machine reading OCR often makes mistakes and you must double check it after uploading the biodata page photo and before you save the page and ultimately submit the application. Sometimes it's just misreading characters, other times your name might be in the wrong space, typically it needs to match the MRZ>>>

Don't bother with the consulates in China. They've done the same thing to MANY foreigners, and even local Chinese. A European had the EXACT same experience with the consulate in Xi'an. His application was cancelled after about 3 months, with zero feedback. He posted a video about it on YouTube. The Shanghai consulate also does the same thing: they keep your application on "pending document check" for 3 months and then just cancel it for NO REASON!

There is a reason for 3 months wait - it's to stop you reversing the payment

Now you know they they make you wait.

It's a scam.
