To those that have switched to education visa:

Did you do so in Thailand? Or did you go to a nearby country and get your visa from Thai embassy?

I am looking to compare costs of each option

Thank you

Answer summary

The discussion highlights the cost dynamics of switching to an education visa in Thailand versus obtaining it from a Thai embassy in a neighboring country. It suggests that obtaining the visa inside Thailand may be cheaper, citing a fee of 2000₿ at immigration and additional school documentation. Concerns are raised about potential 'visa conversion fees' from schools, indicating that the only mandatory fee from immigration is 2000₿.

Obviously it's going to be cheaper to do it inside Thailand because you don't have to go anywhere. 2000₿ is the price of a visa at immigration, plus documents from your school. Then you're done.

Unless your school is one of those that charges a "visa conversion fee". There is no fee from immigration besides the 2000₿ which is the price of every visa from immigration. Anything beyond that is your school taking advantage of you.
