Which banks in Thailand can DTV holders use for insurance and what is the residency certificate?

So after asking all different banks and agents, only two banks are currently ok for DTV holders:

1.Bangkok Bank ( have to buy insurance, probably around 5k-10K)

2. Krungsri bank

Try both of these banks without agents countrywide. Outside of Bangkok tend to be easier. Yes you need to have residency certificate from immigration. Driving license also helpful.

Otherwise, pay agents. Worth it if it's 5-6K. Don't pay more than that. Good luck!

TLDR : Answer Summary
According to recent discussions, Bangkok Bank and Krungsri Bank are currently the only banks accommodating DTV holders for insurance purposes. To open accounts, DTV holders need a residency certificate from immigration, which may not be easily obtainable through hotels. Insurance costs at Bangkok Bank can range from 5K to 7K, covering personal accident insurance, which is particularly beneficial for motorbike users. It's advisable to approach banks directly instead of using agents unless necessary, with fees for agents recommended to remain under 5-6K.

The hotel or residence must do an TM30, ask the hotel for a copy of that.

Go to immigration and get “Certificate of Residence”

In other words, the hotel say here the person stay.

And the immigration confirms.

With that Certificate you can say to the bank, here I’m stay.

Good luck 🍀

You don't need a residency certificate. A lease will do the job

You'll have problems to do it legally if you don't have a permanent address. Best for you to use an agent

it is actually very good insurance to have. There is very little accident wise that it doesn't cover, up to a set amount money wise.

Personal Accident Insurance from Bangkok Bank is worth having. Especially if you have no other form of insurance, ride a moto and aged under 65.
