Which banks in Thailand allow joint account holders to access their accounts via separate apps?

Hi all. I'm hearing KBank doesn't allow two different logins/apps for a single joint account. For those of you with joint accounts here, which bank are you using?

Specifically looking for a bank where we can both have the app installed on our own phones to see the balance and make transfers. Any recommendations?

TLDR : Answer Summary
The query revolves around the limitations faced by joint account holders in Thailand, particularly regarding the use of banking apps. Many users confirmed that most Thai banks, including KBank and TMB, only allow one account holder to access the banking app on a single device, primarily for security reasons. This differs from banking practices in some countries, like Malaysia, where both account holders can manage their joint accounts through separate logins. Recommendations for banks that could potentially offer different features were discussed, but the consensus remains that joint accounts are typically managed differently in Thailand.

The app works with your phone number, so you cant have 2 phones with the same number.

I have seen co-owned small shops where the name of both Thai owners show up on scanning

You just have to get Thai citizenship for both of you

Joint accounts are a strange thing here in Thailand. My wife and I have one with TMB. You can only view our joint account on the app. If we want to make any transactions we have to go in the bank with the Bank Book. We tried to open a joint account with Krung Sri but as you have experienced at K Bank the app can only be on one of our phones.

I see. I’m from Malaysia, and some major Malaysian banks like Maybank and CIMB allow two individuals to access and manage the same joint account through their own separate logins, provided the account is set up with an “Either (OR)” mandate. This arrangement is especially useful for couples to manage shared expenses like rent, groceries, and other household costs.

Sim Yun Young I think what you describe is normal in most countries. It's not an unreasonable expectation. My understanding, this was brought in specifically to deal with scammers and the impact on joint accounts just wasn't really thought of.

Sounds like you want the app on two phones for your partner. No you cant. Same in the UK. Your phone is registered to the bank for security reasons. But its worth it to ask at the branch. I've never heard that its excepted!

What do you mean hope you get it sorted. Nothing to sort this is how uk banks work and I’ve never heard an uk bank account locked to a phone number either.

Possible for a joint account but often a savings account and restricted to one online app to a phone.

Thais prefer single accounts for flexibility.

At least two or three years ago when users got restricted to one device per account.

Your account is linked to a phone number, One device and one login. Joint accounts work different here

Pretty sure that's the same for all thai banks. Only one account holder can have access to a banking app
