TLDR : Answer Summary
To apply for a marriage visa (Non-Immigrant Type O) in Thailand, you'll need to gather specific documents such as the original and copies of your marriage certificate, your Thai wife's ID card, her house book, passport data page, and a Lao visa. Ensure both you and your wife sign relevant documents. The application can be submitted at the consulate in Savannakhet, where you will turn in your form and pay the fee of 5000 baht. For the forms, you can check the official Thai immigration website or the relevant consulate's website.
You can take air asia or nok air's fly-n-ride program to Mukdahan OR you can drive your car into Lao under the restrictions outlined by David Broadfoot below
Make your copies BEFORE you go, make a copy of your lao visa and entry stamp once you're there, get a free application INSIDE the compound when you get there and get in line.
You're fine doing it yourself. Believe me you don't need that goof-ball who pretends to be an agent in front of the consulate to fill in the form form you or make your copies. he has no more pull with the consulate than you do. Provide the documentation I mentioned along with 5000baht and you'll get the visa
To get a year-long, multi-entry Non-Immigrant Type O visa based on marriage to a thai from the consulate in Savannakhet you need
the original marriage certificate (if married in thailand it's the one with the rose border)
copies of:
front&back of the marriage certificate
front&back of your thai wife's i/d card
thai wife's house book listing
data page of your passport
lao visa and entry stamp
(you sign everything with your name on it and your wife signs everything with her name on it meaning you BOTH sign the marriage certificate copies)
you need 2 passport sized photos and the filled out application along with 5000baht. You turn in your application one morning before 11:30 and you pick up your passport the next afternoon after 1:30
