What documents are needed for a NON-O (Marriage visa) from the Thai Embassy in Vientiane, Laos?

Quite sure that most of us have no problem with you being the guru as to all things 'visa' however I suspect that some of us would be curious to know the source(s) of your knowledge?

they don't do police orders for how visas are sold at the thai consulates in other countries :/

It's the Ministry of Foreign Affairs office that runs consulates not the thai immigration office. :)

They let a most consulates come up with their own rules about how they issue visas. :O That's why you have the wildly disparate rules about issuing different visas depending on where you go.

I could be wrong, BUT I do believe my Penang information is correct and you do need 400K baht now to get a year-long, multi-entry Non-O based on marriage or raising half thai kids.

AFAIK; Penang went to the 400K baht for marriage AND raising half thai kids in order to get a year-long, multi-entry Non-O visa..

I have several 1 year visas in passport issued Penang...with 100k in bank. Most recent last year. Inconsistances based on autonomy of consuls and embassies ...very frustrating..!

Just what I was told by few guys living up north. I live south Trang province so Malaysia is easiest.

The ONLY two consulates in S/E Asia that will issue a year-long, multi-entry Non-O visa based on marriage with NO proof of funds are the consulates in Savannakhet Lao and Ho Chi Minh City Vietnam.

Penang WILL issue a year-long, multi-entry Non-O based on marriage with proof of 400K baht (or the equivalent) in a bank account (no seasoning required).

You never got a year-long, multi-entry Non-O based on marriage from the thai consulate in VIENTIANE...

Is that a new rule ? I and others used to get 1 year.

Went to Penang and tried showing 100k in bank as usual..no more..90day only.?

you don't need copies of your thai wife's passport :/

Just copies of her thai i/d card and her house book listing
