I’m a Canadian arriving in Phuket Sandbox Feb 8. When should I apply and what should I expect in Thailand when requesting visa extensions?

TLDR : Answer Summary
A Canadian arriving in the Phuket Sandbox on February 8 should apply for a visa extension anytime during their stay, particularly if entering under the 30-day visa exemption. The extension costs 1900 baht and requires copies of the passport, entry stamp, and a photo. It's noted that a TM30 form is not necessary for a 30-day extension, but it is typically required for a COVID extension. Caution is advised as servers may be overwhelmed on February 1.

I can see the servers being overwhelmed on 1st Feb

In both cases you also need a photo

thank you. Do I need to do this if I am travelling and staying only a few nights at each location? Does the form state the duration of stay?

you just need to put in your current address on the form (the form is called tm 7) at the time of application for the 30 day extension

You don’t need a tm30 for a 30 day extension. But you normally do for a covid extension (60 days)

Assuming you're entering on a 30 day visa exempt entry, you can apply anytime, the 30 day extension will be added to the end of your current stay. Cost 1900 baht, you need copies of your passport, entry stamp, tm6 and tm30.
