Hello

I am a Burmese girl and I just finished my study, my university will cancel my student visa within next week (but my visa expired date is on 30th October tho). This is so sudden and I still have other work to be done in Bangkok.

In my case, can I apply for covid visa to stay longer and how?

TLDR : Answer Summary
A Burmese student facing the cancellation of her student visa can apply for a COVID-19 extension of stay for 60 days due to travel restrictions. The applicant should gather necessary documentation including passport copies, a TM30 form, and relevant fee payment. It's crucial to apply for the extension on the same day the student visa is canceled at the immigration office where it was issued. Additionally, it is advised to check if the same immigration office can process both cancellations and new applications.

Can’t you apply for a post-graduate study course and tell the university not to cancel the ED visa?

thank you for your recommendation.

Just be aware that you have to cancel your extension based on studying at the immigration office where it was issued. Then you have to apply for Covid extension at the immigration office that serves your current address on TM30.

Sometimes same, sometimes different.

You should be able to apply for a 60 day extension of stay based on unable to travel due to COVID-19.

Different immigration offices have different requirements, but all require the following:

1. Your passport and:

a. a copy of your data ("picture") page

b. a copy of your most recent visa (if you have one)

c. a copy of your most recent stamp

d. a copy of your departure card

2. A TM30, filed in the immigration office.

3. The forms (each immigration office may have different forms, and want to use their special forms. For Bangkok, you can find the forms in the "Files" section of the group)

4. 2x passport pictures

5. 1,900 THB.

ON THE SAME DAY YOUR EXTENSION OF STAY BASED ON STUDYING IS CANCELLED, you will apply for the 60 day extension of stay. GO with the university when they cancel your extension of stay.

@Benjamin *****
thank you very much for your prompt response.

Let me ask you the follow-up question about TM 30 which I know that my landlord already did TM 30 registration. in this case, do I need to do it myself in the immigration office?

@Thawdar *****
If your landlady did the TM30 already, you can use what she submitted. Do you have a copy of what was submitted?

Yes, I have. The matter is that I just renewed my passport book last week in my embassy and my student visa was also transferred into my new book already. It means I’ve got my new passport number. But in the copy paper which my landlord did, it was my old passport number. Is it still valid to proceed?

@Thawdar *****
I don't think it would matter, and a new TM30 didn't need to be filed 🙂
