What are the options for a long-stay visa in Thailand for a family with young children?

Anyone have a suggestion on a long stay visa for a family of 4? We are thinking Thai language visa but want to make sure our kids 1&3 will be able to join. Language school isn’t sure about our kids. Anyone on here have advice? We’re cutting it close as our fights are in October. Want to be there a minimum 8 months if possible. Neither of us are over 50.

Because I’m not interested in this becoming a post that causes discourse and spreads misinformation I’m going to turn off comments.

Thanks to those who shared helpful feedback.

I am in the same boat. People think I am crazy. But being in America, currently not there and hate the idea of going back, sucks just as much as anywhere else. So why not go and travel? Everywhere is bad.

being in America and vaccinated is the best option. Use your head people

Not from what I hear. Almost, half of the deaths are Vaccinated and according to most people America got the good Vaccine. This is from nurses on the ground not, I repeat not the news sources that have been shown to be partial to go in certain directions.

are you nuts. Absolutely not half the deaths are vaccinated. You are wrong and if you believe that info you need not travel and put your family at risk. Shame on you.

thru don't want to put their lives on hold. It has been over a year now. How long should people stay put in unappealing situations?

Arrive on whatever visa you can and then switch to a
*****
month volunteer visa. I’m also not over 50- this was the best option I found and also have a 1 year old who just follows me on the visa. Speak with TMT travel who give a great service.

You are not eligible for an O-X visa , you are too young and your kids are of course not … you might need to change the language of your question . 8 months is not a long term visa - it’s 2 renewals , get an o visa in normal times and there’s one visa run in your future … but !! It’s covid , red zones are growing , travel is restricted , and you will need to have covid insurance and quarantine hotels lined up …the rules change as the situation worsens .

Do you plan to enter sandbox or through the normal channels ? Have you contacted the Thai embassy in your homeland country ? Do you have the funds to be stuck in Thailand for a year if you are closed in ? Or when exiting having to quarantine in your home country ? There’s no visa runs so three months and then figuring out how yo get covid extensions - or are those no longer available to new arrivals ? Is your options .. someone will correct my misinformation and smother theirs … good luck

There are a number of ways to stay long in Thailand , depending on the complications you wish to endure - obviously getting work visa , enrolling kids in school is

thank you. I have been watching everything change over the year knowing we would move so I decided to not pay too much attention till we were close (since it had been changing so much). I believe the 90 day STV isn’t available anymore, which is why we decided the language option.

We plan on entering through the normal channel then getting the Ed visa. I haven’t been able to get in contact at our embassy which might be why I feel like I’m flying blind. I already have insurance with covid insurance.

Thanks again for your non judgmental response.

why would any body let alone someone with children even contemplate going to a country where the covid-19 is rampant.

@Oor *******
other then where? Where is it not rampant?

maybe try checking out the news? I’m in Thailand, but I’m not lying to myself that nowhere else is doing better.

Everything is closed and in lockdown. Thailand is experiencing

I understand and we will be incredibly respectful. But this isn’t just coming on holiday we’re moving there. We already had things in motion to move there for quite a while (even though I’m just now working on visas) if we don’t move there we’ll move somewhere else that is also having an incredible surge because unfortunately that is everywhere. We are vaccinated. Our kids will get vaccinated as soon as it becomes available.

You can let the kids overstay... theres no penalty for children under a certain age (don't know that age).
