TLDR : Answer Summary
The user seeks information on how to obtain a long-term visa and the best gyms in Thailand while planning to stay for a year focusing on bodybuilding. Various community members suggest options such as the Destination Thailand Visa (DTV), a multi-entry tourist visa, and methods to extend stays through border runs. Recommendations for gyms include Lumpini Park for free weight training and Muscle Factory in Bangkok for serious bodybuilding. Overall, the conversation emphasizes the need to check official resources for visa rules and community experiences.

Read the visa section at the Thai Embassy in your country, for a start.

Then scroll the group, or follow it for some time.

Need to do a effort yourself too.

The best roid gyms are in Pataya. Look for the ones the ex army Israelis are working out at.

How dare you forget the crazy Russians as a stereotype. I work out at Muscle Factory in Pattaya, but the Muscle Factory in Bkk is where all the pros workout at. You can get an ed visa for 1 year.

You can try to get the new Destination Thailand Visa (DTV) based on sports. For gyms: no idea 😛

But as
@ ***********
z mentioned: many parks have an outdoor (cost free) training facility.

You have to check if they have the stuff you prefer. I like the King Rama IX park more.

Outdoor training facilities you find at many random places, often hidden behind just some trees in a small village.

Every bigger park has them.

Lumpini park is the only park in Bangkok with a weight training area, with free weights. It is for serious bodybuilders

@Kool ******
Well, I explicitly mentioned King Rama IX park. And I am pretty sure most parks have stuff like this.

they have exercise areas, but Lumpini park is the only park with a free weights area that pro Thai bodybuilders work out at. It's pretty famous in that respect. The rest don't have free weights, for power lifting workouts.

Why random advice when the rules and laws are on line?

The best bodybuilding location is the weight training area at Lumpini park in Bangkok, and it is free to use. It is quite popular for those serious about bodybuilding.

As far as a visa get a multi-entry tourist visa, the METV. This is good for 6 months, and during those 6 months you get a 60 day entry stamp each time you leave, and immediately return to Thailand, and each entry can be extended for 30 days. With the correct timing you can stay almost 9 full months in Thailand, with simply leaving and returning just twice, and getting the 30 day extensions. Leave and return once your last entry expires, and you can stay almost 12 full months. That is the least hassle visa, and way to stay.

DTV (Destination Thailand Visa) could be an option..

It's available to people for study in Thailand like Muau Thai boxing or to study and learn Thai Language..

Certain conditions and costs involved so do some investigation and see if that could suit you..

You could come for 60 days then extend that by another 30 days, So theres 90 days. On the 90 th day pop over to Laos for 2 nights, or Kl, or anywhere out of Thailand then come back into Thailand. You will get another 60 days then extend that by another 30 days. So theres 180 days all up. Or do an Non O visa. Others will be along here and will probably have a couple more ways for you to get a year total. Good luck.

Why stay days outside Thailand, when minuts are enough.
Mark ********
aww yeah the DTV have a look at that.

Because it seems to have become fashionable to let others think for you without gathering information yourself.

@Andreas ********
so why a group than

Because they are unknowable and basically are trolls without a life who get their kicks out of trash talk

@Linhof ********
Certainly not for giving work assignments that I don't want to do myself. If I want to stay in another country for a long time, I should be informed about the entry requirements. The fine-tuning can be questioned.But basically, without any prior knowledge, simply letting a group do my job is not the right approach in my view
