Hey all, I'm looking to live in Koh Pha Ngan for 4 months beginning in the end of November to train Muay Thai. 

I'd appreciate any advice you have regarding a Visa for this purpose

ok you can buy a tourist visa before you travel. That will get you 60 days and you can extend that once for 30 days at a local immigration office. Once that’s done you can do a border bounce and enter visa exempt for 30 days and extend once again if needed.
