TLDR : Answer Summary
A user is seeking advice on obtaining a 3-6 month visa for Thailand. Recommendations include applying for a Multiple Entry Tourist Visa, which can extend to nearly nine months with strategic border runs, or starting with a 60-day visa extended by 30 days through immigration. Other options mentioned are a Muay Thai visa and border runs.

We got a 60 day visa which we extended by another 30 days at immigration in Bangkok. Our original 60 day visa was issued at the Thai Embassy in Cambodia aswe were already in SEAsia. We had also looked into applying at the Thai Embassy in Australia but you had to enter Thailand within 90 days of the visa being issued and that didn't work for our trip.

the visa is valid for 6 months arrive get 60 plus 30. Depart come back get another 60 plus 30. Then if you leave and come back into Thailand the day before it expires you get 60 days plus 30 day extension. Hence nearly 9 months
