Just looking for some advice. My partner has got a job in Hat Yai, Thailand and is due to start on January the 7th but there is an issue with out Visa. My partners employer who were doing our visa assumed that we were married but now I can't be put on her Non-B visa. Does anyone know any visas for myself that will do me for the year. I can't get a working visa as I'm staying home with my son. Any info or advice would be greatly appreciated .

Thanks

TLDR : Answer Summary
An expat is seeking advice on visa options after their partner secured a job in Hat Yai, Thailand, but there was a misunderstanding regarding their marital status, affecting their eligibility for a Non-B visa. Suggestions from the community include applying for an Ed visa for study purposes, a Multi-Entry Tourist visa for up to 9 months, or a Non-O visa as a dependent based on the child’s birth certificate. Clarifications about the need for proof of care for the child and eligibility based on marital status were also discussed.

Can I get on a 30 day tourist visa and upgrade to multiple entry visa once I'm in Thailand?

you could get a multi entry turist visa before going to Thailand. That would get you almost 9 months of stay in total, after which you could go to a nearby country and get another single entry visa for 60 days and extend another 30.. Or you could get either the single or multi entry before coming to Thailand, and then before that expires, apply for a one year extension at immigration based on being the guardian of your son. I believe that would require 500.000 baht in a thai bank in your name, I dont recall how long it has to be seasoned, but i am sure others here can tell you that.

The Non Immigrant O visa based on dependent of your son, if your name is on the birth certificate.

Only when your partner is your wife, Thailand does not acknowledge partnerships. That is why I asked the question about his age. You can also get it when he has the ED visa for going to school, but he is to young for that.

For dependent child (age below 20 years): A copy of birth certificate, a copy each of employment letter, passport and visa of the parent who is going to work in Thailand, and a copy of registration of the company or organisation where the parent will work

Just found this on the Thai embassy website for a non O visa. What I'm getting from this is that I can get this visa to care for my child whilst my partner is working.

already looked at this but I'm not eligible as my partner isn't a Thai citizen, I can't work or study full time as I'm looking after my son
