What is the best visa option for returning to Thailand to support my partner during childbirth?

Hi there, a couple of questions, would appreciate your suggestions.

My Partner's job/contract is getting terminated due to Covid end of Jan, so he's going through the process of canceling WP and Visa, He aims to depart Bangkok the first week in Feb to return to UK.

In order to come back to Thailand, which tourist visa will allow him to stay in Thailand the longest before extending? Ie Visa on arrival or a specified Tourist visa before leaving the UK?

Basically, I'm due to give birth at beginning of April, so I'm ideally looking for a visa that will ensure he does not miss the birth, and then hopefully get him on the Thai Child Non-O Visa (We're not married so I can't put him on the non-o spousal visa) Would I be able to convert the tourist visa to non-o in-country as well?

This would just be to tie us over while he job hunts, baby arrival, and then (hopefully) we'd go back to the Non-B Visa route, as usual, if/when he lands a new role.

Thank you ๐Ÿ™

TLDR : Answer Summary
The user seeks advice on the best visa options for their partner, who is returning to Thailand to support them during childbirth while currently facing job loss due to COVID-19. They aim to find a tourist visa that allows the longest stay and inquire about converting it to a Non-O visa for parental rights once the child is born, as they are not married.

Thank you both for your super prompt reply! Yes I'm Thai, and thank you for the Amphur suggestion, we will go down that route as well. ๐Ÿ™๐Ÿ™

All single entry or multiple entry tourist visas (that are eligible to apply for in-country visas) give you 60days on entering Thailand and you can apply for 30days tourism extension then leave.

As a tourist, STV is the longest option (90+90+90) but you are thinking about an in-country visa, so this is not your option.

1. What's YOUR nationality? Are you Thai?

2. >Thailand, which tourist visa will allow him to stay in Thailand the longest before extending?

I recommend a single entry tourist visa. This allows a person to stay for 60 days, extendable once for another 30 days.

>and then hopefully get him on the Thai Child Non-O Visa

Since you and him are not married, he will need to be granted parental rights by the Amphur office I believe. This is a simple process since you (the mother) are agreeing to it. It may take some time though, but I'm not sure. This can also be granted automatically if you and him are married.

Once he is granted parental rights, he can get an in-country Non-O visa based on raising a half-Thai child followed by a one year extension of stay based on raising half-Thai child. He can acquire a work permit on this extension of stay.
