TLDR : Answer Summary
The original poster is seeking advice on visa options as a father of a Thai child born out of wedlock. Responses suggest that without parental rights, options are limited. Possible visas mentioned include a 90-day single entry Non-O visa, which can be extended for 60 days, an education visa, and a retirement visa if over 50. To obtain longer-term options, the individual is advised to pursue legitimacy and parental rights through local authorities or the family court.
NON-O RETIREMENT VISA RESOURCES / SERVICES
Go to the Retirement Visa Section for information on requirements, including age restrictions, financial requirements, and necessary documentation.
For immediate assistance, contact Thai Visa Centre directly via LINE at @ThaiVisaCentre or Email them.
Explore recent discussions by using the Non-O Retirement Visa tag in the search box at the top of the page.
Education visa is also an option for 9 months at the least; as well as, if you are 50+ retirement visa

Okay, people lets' understand the O/P is looking for a solution to HIS ability to stay in thailand. He has a half thai child born out of wedlock and has not been granted parental rights by family court so his visa and extension options are limited.

okay as has been pointed out without going thru family court to get parental rights granted or because the child is old enough just going with the parents to the Amphur to get the parental rights noted in their log book you cannot get a yearly extension based on raising a thai child.
You can get a 90 day single entry Non-O visa without proof of funds at Savannakhet or Vientiane Lao and you can get a year-long, multi-entry Non-O visa from the thai consulate in Penang with proof of 400K baht in a bank account (doesn't need to be a thai bank). All of those consulates require the birth certificate, the mother's thai i/d, the child's house book listing, (and Penang requires the bank book updated recently).
Those are your options.
You can also get the 60 day visit family extension once per entry at the immigration office for 1900baht
Seeing as the child IS of age where they can make a declaration at the local Amphur and you can be recognized as the legal father there with the rights that come with it I would say a visit to your local amphur is in order.
then until you do, just go to Savannakhet or Vientiane and get a 90 day single entry Non-O visa and then get a 60 day extension after that. I know people in your situation who have done that for years and years and years now every 5 months

Having the name on the birth certificate is absolutely not enough! You MUST have the custody of your daugjter written on the official paper, then you can get a visa easy peasy :)

dependancy visa

You can get a multiple 90 days and a 60 days after that. There is no limit to 90 days one time as far as I know I did my multiple o in Sweden and Penang

How old is the child ? I thought you only had to go to the local amphur with the mother and the child to get legitimization or am I wrong ?
You could be right with the age, let's wait to some one with experience on this replies.

I thought once the child reaches the age of 7 or 8 you all toddle off to the the local amphur ( father, mother and child ) and get the child legitimized. I thought it only involved a family court if there was a custody battle and/or the child was too young.

If you have the Thai Birth certificate you just visit a lawyer and it all goes to Family court, takes a longer time, thought about 6 months and you have your rights. No need for Embassy, translations in English and Thai, unless you have a birth certificate from another country.

Easy answer is Tourist Visa or any other Visa if you meet the requirements. But I guess you like to have a Visa for longer periods, so is your Daughter a Thai National, is your name on the birth certificate or do you have parental rights by Family court in Thailand if the daughter is born out of wedlock?
. The O/P has a half thai child out of wedlock (meaning unlike your son he's NOT married to the mother) and the requirements for the O/P's visa situation are not similar at all to those of your son.
thats is what I thought, my granddaughter already has dual passports, she is 7 now, due for new passports, son was tol she can have dual until 21 then has to have o e or the other
I think you are talking at cross purposes. Robert, Evie's adult Australian son who is here on a spousal visa it seems, cannot get a Thai passport just because he is married to a Thai woman and has a Thai driver's licence. Her grand daughter on the other hand may be able to travel in the way you described when she is older
no you can get multiple I have 90 days multiple each time both in Sweden and Penang

ok, will have to let him know next time I am talking to him, he always keeps everything up to date here as well, has a thai licence which makes things easier
If he has a Thai passport he does not need a Visa, unless he prefer to use his Australian passport to stay inside Thailand. If he leave Thailand next time, let him fly back into Thailand and show his Thai Passport at the Checkpoint for Thai Nationals.
my son must of done that, I know there is a lot of paper work he had to do, even to get married, had to go bangkok, get everything transland then go back to thai embassy to get paper to get married

my son had a student visa to start with, but they are very hard to get now, he wanted to learn the language, he married in thailand 3 years ago and is now on a spouse visa, even they are tricky, it is for 12 months, but still has to leave every 3 months to keep it current
Thais even don't need a visa to stay inside Thailand. But you have the same parental rights but it has to go first true Family Court.

If a baby is born out of wedlock then you are not the father EVEN if you later get married and even if the baby has an Australian passport.. You have to be legitimized as the father in a Thai court. I am about to do this myself, so I am fairly familiar with the issue :( Still doesn't make me want to get legally married though....LOL :) You can only do as Rob said....90 day outside the country.....
Evie *****
My son also registered her birth in australia, she now has a thai passport and an australian passport
that's what I have been told in the UK. But keep hearing u can get one
Evie *****
wasnt sure, I know unless you are thai you dont have many rights.

Thanks, you can apply for the Non Immigrant O visa but only the Single Entry, which gives you 90 days of stay. This stay can be extended at Immigration Office with another 60 days based on visiting family.

Born out of wedlock means you have zero parental rights unfortunately. Got to go to court and it can take a while.
