TLDR : Answer Summary
If your Thai fiancé marries you while on a 6-month visa in the UK, she does not automatically gain the right to stay. You will need to apply for 'further leave to remain' before her current visa expires. After several years, she may apply for 'indefinite leave to remain' (ILR). If she enters the UK on a visitor visa, she can't apply for leave to remain; she would need to return to Thailand and apply for a settlement visa to live with you. Additionally, if you travel back to Thailand and she wants to return to the UK, she will need to ensure her visa status allows for this.

Ya kow it is no wonder when Thai authorities monitor TV that their respect level for us all goes lower based on many unnecessary vulgar posts by obviously less desirable denizens be they local or foreign.

SAdly, it seems to me that genre is growing and many valuable folks are abandoning ship.

TV PLEASE filter a bit more and save the rest of us.

If she has a Visitor visa she cannot apply for LTR in the UK. She will need to return to Thailand and apply for a Settlement visa. If she has a fiancee visa (in other words, she has taken the A1 English test, has a TB certificate and paid the NHS surcharge - and you have shown you meet the financial requirements), it's not an issue. You just marry and move on to the next stage.

She will have to do hours of homework and needs to speak English . you will both be interviewed.when we did it it cost 1,500 pounds in 2007 it's very complicated we failed the first time ....so cost us double . good luck meticulous paperwork needed ...

Marrying a British citizen doesnt give her the right to remain in the UK. As pointed out she will have to apply for 'leave to remain' before her visa expires.

It would be a decision for the UK to make so their immigration department would be the point of contact

No it doesn't.

After you marry, you'll have to apply for "further leave to remain", which allows work etc.

After she's been in the UK for several years - and passed "life in the UK" and an English language exam - then she can apply for "indefinite leave to remain"

The precise timings have changed since we did it.

It'll be expensive (even doing it yourselves)

Her "leave to remain" is in the form of a residency card (along the lines of an American "green card") and serves as visa for entering the UK

When applying for each stage, you can print the forms and paperwork requirements from the gov.uk website.

you can get a 10 year UK tourist visa as well. However, its meant for that purpose and have to leave I think every 6 months. If she just left and came back in then they maybe would question her but I don't even think anyone receives a stamp when leaving uk

@Steven ***************
You don't get a stamp but it's all documented by computer, that's one of the reasons why they scan your passport
Keith *************
If you're wife does get the right to remain .and for example you move to Thailand then she will need it stamping every 2 years or she will loose it unless she gets an English passport ..
