I'm just after some advice please. I want to apply for the non immigrant o visa but my timings are tight for when our family wants to move to Thailand and when my new job starts in Asia. Ideally I want to apply to the Thai embassy online in London. But due to not knowing what date and flight I need to book at the moment I can't complete the application form as it asks for a flight number. We're either moving at the end of this month or August so I can't book myself a flight at the moment. It's straightforward for my wife and daughters as they'll just enter on Thai passports.
If I simply entered Thailand on a visa exemption with my UK passport what is the process I would need to do to then apply for a non immigrant o based on marriage once I'm in Thailand. We're moving to Udon Thani so nearest Thai embassies will be Vientiane or Savvanaket. In my first 30 days should I just cross the border into Laos with my wife and apply at one of these 2 embassies?
Thanks

Just come on on either visa exempt or tourist visa then get a Non-O at your local immigration office, you'll also need 400k baht in a bank account in your name. Best to pop to the immigration office shortly after arrival and as their requirements re paperwork etc as every immigration office is slightly different.
yes entirely possible. Take your Thai wife along to vouch for you.

You are doing what Thais will say you do, "you think to much". Don't do it. It is actually very simple, especially if you were married in Thailand. With your two marriage documents, if you were married in Thailand, the license and registration documents, and a copy of your wife's ID card, and a copy of the house book she is listed in, then you can get a type O 90 day visa from the Thai Embassy. You have, as with most other visas, 90 days in which to enter Thailand. Then get a Thai bank account, put bt400,000 in it, and in two months you can apply for your one year extension. There are a number of documents you need the first time, but as long as you save copies of everything, the following years all you need is new bank letters, and pictures, unless you move. It is actually very easy to do.
my wife says I think too much ๐คฃ. Usually does me good though.
Yes we were married in Thailand so I have all that paperwork.
My headache is with where to apply for the non immigrant O visa. If I enter on a visa exemption where can I apply for the non imm O visa. At my local immigration office or would I need to go to Loas for a couple of days?
Also I would like to meet the financial requirements by showing my income of over เธฟ40,0000 per month is this possible? At the moment I don't have a thai bank account to deposit 400,000 into.
don't forget to have pictures ready of your wife and yourself at the place of her thai residency... It sounds weird, but that's what we need to bring now, otherwise no visa ๐ check requirements, at least my embassy requires this
you apply for this first stage of a type O visa extension based on Thai wife, which is the 90 day part, at the Thai Embassy in London before you come here. This gives you 90 days in Thailand to get your financial situation straightened out, then if that is not enough time you can get a visiting family 60 day extension. When that is close to expiring you visit a neighbouring country's Thai Embassy, and do it the same way again. It is actually quite easy. You aren't expected to have a Thai bank account yet at the beginning of those 90 days. Keep that in mind. It is just like the first time everytime. By doing it this way you don't have any tourist visas, that in the future could be questioned.
also you will have to use the 400k method for the first marraige extension. You have to have 12 consecutive deposits if at least 40k baht each and every month before you can switch to the monthly income method. 40k has to be every month.
when using the income method can you also use the money that you deposit each month. Or does it have to remain above 40,000 each month. My salary will be a lot more than 40,000 going in every month.
