Hi guys.

I am a uk citizen married to a Thai woman.

I have a flight ticket return from London for 4 months.

I will enter Thailand on January 15 by air.

I will be going to Vietnam for a holiday around January 20.

Not sure how long I will stay in Vietnam.

Could be 5 days could be more.

Will be looking for a teaching job.

My question. Do I :

1. Get a non o visa based on marriage from London. ( single 90 days ) £50.

* can I pay 1000 baht at airport when I fly to Vietnam for re - entry permit to keep it alive.

2. Enter on 30 day exempt, fly to HCMC and get non o year visa for 5000 baht.

( non proof of funds )

Thanks for any thoughts.

TLDR : Answer Summary
A UK citizen married to a Thai woman is considering two visa options for entering Thailand: applying for a Non-O visa based on marriage in London for a single 90-day stay or entering Thailand on a 30-day visa exemption before traveling to Vietnam. The discussion includes advice on obtaining a re-entry permit for the Non-O visa and options for extending the stay in Thailand while seeking teaching opportunities.

Ok guys.

Thanks for info up to date.

Sorry but mix up on my part.

The teaching job search will be in Vietnam while I am on holiday.

I am looking at working in Vietnam and visiting my wife and my wife visiting me.

Maybe later work in Thailand. ( I worked teaching in Thailand for 8 years )

Thanks again.

Get the Non Immigrant O visa based on marriage in London, get the 90 days of stay on entry, take your break to Vietnam with the re-entry permit, find the job and use the job and marriage for the Extension of Stay, no visa runs and you can stay for 1 year.

On the 30 day exempt issue. I should have proof of an onward flight to Vietnam.

Also this is for a friend on a 2 month trip.

I would do the following:

1. If possible, I would get a Non-O Multiple Entry visa based on marriage in HCMC or Savannakhet, Laos. You don't need proof of funds, and it'll last about 15 months. You can work on this visa, and you can quit your job easily without fear.

2. Otherwise, I would get a Non-O based on marriage, and get a reentry permit.

I would get the visa. You may not be able to board your flight from London without one. Yes you can get a re-entry permit before you go to Vietnam.
