What visa should I apply for when returning to Thailand after my retirement visa expired?
I am going to return to Thailand. I had a retirement visa that has run out due to the Covid problems in the last year. I am married to a thai national and want now to get a marriage visa when I go back to Thailand. Nearly all my money is in Thailand and there is more than enough to meet the requirements. On what visa should I enter, will a 60 day tourist visa meet the requirements to then apply for the marriage visa. Or has anyone got any advice as I don't want to enter and find out I cannot apply for the marriage visa. I am a uk citizen. Waiting for Thailand to show signs of improvement with Covid before I go back. I am 65 years old

You can either get a Non O visa, or tourist visa from your local embassy, or if eligible come over exempt. If you choose tourist or exempt you’d need to buy an in country O visa for 2,000 baht and then apply for a year extension when thats winding down.

you can get a work permit with a marriage visa but not retirement … otherwise the same except for 400k or 800k in bank . Retirement is easier at immigration

A Thai retirement visa is much easier to get, my wife is Thai and the Thai immigration recommends retirement visa, much less paper work. In saying that I entered Thailand on a 0 visa then after my first 90 days I had a option to get either a retirement or marriage visa, remembering your age and bank details are required. Generally they are very helpful, it only took me 2 hours and a little paper work.

yes. You can change from 60 day tourist visa to an non O as long as you have the correct funds. Activity
