I would like to apply for non-o retirement visa while I will be in Vientiane Laos...

Before it was stating that passport should have 6 months validity when you will get in thailand and I now Isee some other place stating that I need 1 year validity...

Is there any body knows if 6 months validity could be ok to qualify for the non-o visa over 50 year old?

TLDR : Answer Summary
When applying for a Non-O retirement visa in Thailand from Vientiane, it is crucial to ensure that your passport has sufficient validity. Most Thai embassies require that your passport has at least 6 months of validity at the time of visa application. However, for entering Thailand with the Non-O visa, your passport should have at least 90 days of validity remaining at the time of entry. It is advised to renew your passport if it has less than a year of validity, as this will avoid complications with visa extensions and ensure a smoother application process.

You won’t get the one year extension without having at least a year on your passport other wise you’ll get whatever you’ve got left ,5 months that’s all you’ll get for an extension

its worth him renewing his passport before applying for the 12 month extension of stay, assuming it can be done quickly enough after opening a bank account. If he doesn't get a new passport the extension will only be up to the date his passport expires

I correct after when they ask my name and so on...but when I put bio page I cannot correct...

It's written 2 times ''home adress'' so I don't know where I write my current address and when I write my permanent address. May be first time is ''current adress'

I start the application because I will be in Vientiane soon...

When I upload my bio page passport they put me a middle name: 'QF' which I don't have and that it does'nt eaven written on my passport (few years ago they refuse my tourist application for that)...may be it's ok since after I write my surname and name as written on my bio page?

And for ''home adress'' I don't know which one is my ''current address'' and ''permanent address'' since is written 2 times ''home address'' and between those 2 it's written ''is your permanent address same as your current address''

So I wonder which I write first?

that happens a lot, you need to correct it so it reads the same as your passport. Current address would be your address in Laos

If you get an O then an extension your passport will expire with a valid visa. No idea what happens next but I guess it's a pain in the ass.

no, the visa or extension also ends when the passport expires

interesting. I had a situation where the just stapled the old on to the new one.

But that means you get a one year extension that lasts maybe six months.

In the UK took it to the PO, paid the fee and two weeks later new passport.

but you still can. No need to transfer any stamps later. Also a new passport number, so bank and phone to update. Much easier to just get a new passport.

I know you can but why waste almost a year of the 10 you paid for when you now only get 9.5 years anyway?

because it's a right pain, transferring everything over into a new passport. If you cant afford to lose a year on a passport, maybe you can't afford to be living in Thailand.

All Thai embassies have a rule that your passport must have 6 months in order to apply for a visa.

When you get to Thailand, your passport must have enough validity to receive the entry stamp from the visa you have. That means if you have a non-O visa, your passport must have 90 days left when you try to enter Thailand.

If you intend on flying, your airline probably will not let you fly without 6 months left on your passport. This is not a Thailand rule, this is an airline policy.
