TLDR : Answer Summary
The post discusses the challenges faced by an expat in securing a flight to Thailand despite having fulfilled all entry requirements, including health insurance, a Certificate of Entry (COE), and quarantine arrangements. Respondents suggest staying in touch with the local Thai Embassy for repatriation flight updates and mention the lack of commercial flights to Thailand currently. They note that the embassy sometimes helps with flight bookings and that travelers should be prepared for complicated procedures involving paperwork and approvals. The importance of confirming flight arrangements through official channels is emphasized.

The Thai Embassy/Consulate of the country he's in should book him on a re-pat flight if his paperwork is all approved.

The only reports if people sucessfully returning tk Thailand are those on flights organized through the embassy (some people have reported taking a flight from a dufferent country and working with multiple embassies (maybe you coukd talk to your local embassy about thus as an option). If you are in a country where your embassy will not help you then I am not sure there are any options at this time. All commercial flights are banned from Thailand and there is no official date for this ban to end. And yes ubfortunately different embassies follow their own procedures. Best of luck.

exactly , the same here in Brazil, everything is done , but he booked a flight and guess what? Cancel, the quarantine is already paid for, COE DONE ! Not easy

@Camila ******
oh my!! I'm in Argentina!! Maybe it's a problem in South America?
GabĂ **************
Hope he can cancel the ASQ without any fee!
Diane ******
He should get the flight through the embassy before booking ASQ. This seems to be the procedure.
GabĂ **************
May I ask, from where is he trying to fly from? I see flights in the search engine but I am afraid I wont be able to book them even if they "seem" available, is this the case? I need 3 stop overs for sure..
Geoff **********
Reason they cancel is no commercial flights with passengers are allowed to land and have passengers get off in Thailand currently, there is no date when this will change. Only repat flights or cargo flights where passage is aranged through the embassy can bring passengers to Thailand. The airlines just accept bookings and hope they will be able to fly because it helps their cash flow.

@Geoff *********
but he has the CoE... my embassy is telling me that I need to book the flight myself, they don't do it for me...
Geoff **********
@GabĂ *************
Did they give you a travel agent name/link to use to book the ticket? I am not sure what country you are in but beyond that I have no ideas to help you. Commercial flights are still banned to Thailand. The people I know of who have arrived here either booked their flight through a teavel agent specified by the embassy or booked a flight on an airline specified by the embassy for a future daye, sent the flight info to the embassy and the embassy then worked with the airline ti change the flight date. Maybe someone else knows of a different way. Best of luck.

Im in Argentina... it is more conplicated as there are no direct flights nor conecting flights departing from here (because of local government's decision) so you need to first go to Europe... your information has already been helpful, you have already help me. Thank you!

Now I have to say no one should have to take risks to fly from a low-risk country like Thailand and have to risk dying in a high-risk country so amnesty must be extended as long as there are those risks and I think they will place until September 30th 🙏🇹🇭🙏

repatriation flight
Kullanit ******
All the passengers will have to go thru the embassy in their region as there will be a lot of paperwork involved. Each flight can only take some passengers. The flight from Vancouver last month only had 80. Not sure how many will get this month. You will need a certificate of entry from the embassy plus an agreement for 14 days quarantine and fit to fly certificate from a doctor issued less than 72 hours. You will then book a flight with the airline specified by the embassy. I know it isn't easy as we just went thru this. Contact the embassy in your region asap and let them know why your husband needs a flight. Good luck!

yes the embassy got us to book the flight too with the airline that they specified. We got the booking for Aug 8 but the flight is leaving on Jul 22. We sent the booking information to the embassy and they changed the flight for us with the airlines.

I think we are all waiting for 24th July last I heard

Hoping to get back in for Christmas

My understanding is that spouses of Thai nationals qualify for entry, but only after several restrictions. I am one of those, but I am going to wait until next year before trying to return to my Thai family. Things are just too loosey goosey for me with regard to the Thai immigration changes and additions.

@Rick ******
. It's probably a wise decision. The Australian embassy apparently has received 400 applications from people across all the groups and only 24 have been approved. It's almost impossible for a non-Thai to get on one of the repatriation or cargo flights. There's also rumours spreading that the PM will have a knee-jerk reaction after Rayong and shut the airport completely (a total overreaction). I think people overseas who are applying are getting frustrated and stressed over the slow process and then getting disappointed. I think your strategy of just sitting back and letting all the shit settle (which it will do over the next 2-3 months) is the best stress-free option.
Rick *******
@Bo***
, you are absolutely right, but I think it will take a lot longer than 2-3 months for Thailand to get their act together. I am willing to wait until sometime next year to try and return.
Bobby ********
@Rick ******
. It will be well into next year before we see anything even remotely resembling what it was before, but I do also think we'll see some relaxation towards the end of the year. Although the PM is being hard and fast, many of his government have sizeable investments in the tourism sector, and he will have to cede to pressure soon. It'll be baby steps to begin with, but it will gradually open. Take care
Bobby ********
@Nathan **************
. What happens on July 24?
Nathan ***************
@Bobby *******
I thought that was when the government announce the next phase of coming into Thailand

So far isn’t it only Thais and those married to Thais with residency cards or those offered jobs for government

I may have things confused it’s quite common with me lol
Bobby ********
@Nathan **************
. Work Permit holders can also apply for a COE, and these additional groups were added a few weeks ago. I hadn't heard of any announcement in July 24. The emergency decree goes until July 31 although after the Rayong episode it's now widely tipped to bring extended a further month.
Nathan ***************
@Bobby *******
what’s the rayong episode ?

This list I’ve seen in many formats and as ever the things on the lists seem different to each other list lol
Bobby ********
@Nathan **************
. This is the official order so it overrules every other list you have seen

As there are no commercial flights coming to Thailand all he can do is stay in contact with the local Thai Embassy and wait for a repatriation flight or a cargo flight.
