Hi, we're seeking some answers that we can't find researching on our own. We have Tourist visas and want to apply for Guardian Visa. Our children have 1 year ED visas. The application requires Affidavit with Thai Embassy, we looked into going to US consulate in Thailand, but they do NOT do affidavits anymore. Any advice on where we can go or how we can get one in Thailand that we can use for the visa application? We have our children's original birth certificates and our notarized Marriage License. Any suggestions, advice is much appreciated!

TLDR : Answer Summary
The user is seeking guidance on obtaining an Affidavit in Thailand to support their application for a Guardian Visa, as they currently hold Tourist visas and their children have ED visas. They mentioned the challenge of finding a suitable location for obtaining the Affidavit due to the U.S. consulate not providing that service anymore. Community responses suggest alternatives, highlighting that the user might need to have their documents (birth certificates and marriage license) translated and certified by the Thai Ministry of Foreign Affairs, as well as the importance of having documents legalized by the Thai embassy in the U.S. before proceeding.

Starting June 1, 2023, the U.S. Embassy in Bangkok and the U.S. Consulate in Chiang Mai no longer offer affidavits to replace official authentication or certification of U.S. documents.

Since you mentioned having notarized birth certificates and a notarized marriage license (step 1), the next step is to visit the Thai embassy in the U.S. for document legalization. This step cannot be skipped before going to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Thailand. The reason is that the Thai Ministry of Foreign Affairs only has the authority to legalize Thai documents. So, you must first have your documents legalized by the Thai embassy where they were issued before proceeding with your visa application process. Good luck.

When you said they want Affadavit from Thai Embassy something just clicked in my brain. When they, the school or immigration, said Thai Embassy they were probably referring to the Thai Ministry of Foreign Affairs stamp. If so you get your documents translated into Thai by a licensed translation service. They will translate it and either you or the translation service will take it to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and get paperwork from them. The paperwork from the Ministry just verifies that the translation is correctt and was done by an authorized translator. The Ministry will not certify the authenticity of the documents, just that it was translated correctly. This may be what they need. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs is in Bangkok.

You need one ED visa per parent and 500k baht in a Thai bank for an extension per parent. But you first need to get a 90 day Non-O visa per parent and you might find it easier to get that outside of Thailand.

Oh okay. Sorry I do not know. Hopefully someone in the group will be able to answer that question. Good luck.

What kind of Affadavit? For income verification?
